What is Rush? Rush is for everyone. Rush is not just for people who want to join a fraternity. Rush is primarily a period when the fraternities on campus hold events where people who might be interested in joining can meet the brothers and find out more about each fraternity. However, there is a lot in it for people who are not even thinking about joining a fraternity - it is a unique opportunity to make connections, get to know more people on campus, and get a lot of free food and prizes in the process! Rush is a period when we can get to know you and you can get to know us. Rush takes the form of a series of events that each house holds independently. These events are designed to provide the rushees with an open atmosphere to choose the house or houses that suit them best. Typical Rush events include barbecues, socials with sororities, casino nights, and theme parties. During Rush, flyers are posted all over campus advertising the Rush events that each fraternity is holding. Rush at UW-Stout is conducted for a period of time in the Fall and Spring. Bid Distribution marks the end of Rush, and is when each fraternity delivers its invitations for membership, which are called bids. If you choose to join a particular fraternity, then you attend Bid Acceptance at that house a few days later. Most fraternities throw socials that night or the next to welcome their new members. Should you choose not to accept a bid, you not obligated in anyway to join or commit to that Fraternity. |

Rush Kappa Lambda
Beta?
Kappa Lambda Beta is based on three pillars of Knowledge, Leadership, and Brotherhood. We believe by understanding and respecting these pillars we will become strong, as individuals and as an organization. Our Mission statement is as follows: We are the Brothers and Sisters of Kappa Lambda Beta Fraternity. Who are here to provide opportunities for advancement in social skills, leadership, and academic achievement to better the community, UW-Stout, and ourselves. We practice our skills through various events. In the Fall we hold a Rock-A-Thon, where we sit in rocking chairs for 72 hours straight. With the money raised we have a scholarship, in memory of an Alumni, for a disable student at Stout. We also participate in Homecoming where we pair up with a Sorority on campus. In the Spring we hold an Ice softball Tournament, where we hold a softball tournament on Lake Menomin. We are sponsored by Ba Da Bingz here in Menomonie. We also participate in Greek Week where we compete against other Fraternities for the Spirit Award. In addition we have a formal weekend for all the members and their dates to get away and have fun for a weekend. Last year we went the Caribou Highlands in Lutsen, MN. Throughout the year we have weekly meetings, socials with other Fraternities and Sororities, donate time and money to the Dunn County Humane Society, and help support other organizations on campus. |
